Overall - this challenge is flying by - in some ways I'm still waiting for it to get a good start. Between the cold and the arthritis, and all the scheduled coaching and speaking (which is the core of my business), a lot of my ancillary goals, and even my BHAG of getting a book written, are not even getting started.
Day 9 - A good day, mostly. Coaching - getting a client ready for an TED audition, and prepping for a Toastmasters meeting. I took on the presidency of an advanced club that has faced a lot of challenges, and I wanted to have some honest discussion, make some strong decisions, and inspire our members to bring our club back up to a level of greatness I think we can reach. That meant being as 'on' and honest as possible - and I thought it went well.
Day 10 - A LONG day - getting up way early to get 3 of my kids on a plane to Utah for CTF (Children's Tumor Foundation) Camp, then getting Kris to work, then Riley to work. In the evening, we dropped the younger kids at Grandma's, took Riley to a babysitting job, then went and had dinner. We hadn't eaten ALL DAY - and went to BBQ Brothers - and ate a bunch. We hadn't been there in about 4 years, so it was nice to go back.
Then we went and saw Paper Town, which is, I guess, today's version of a 'coming of age' movie, much like my generations Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller. It was filled with angst and melodrama, but without much of an upbeat to counter it. Not in the same class as what I grew up with, and my 14 yo, who saw it Friday, agreed with me when I picked her up at 11 from babysitting.
A long, but fun day.

Rich,
ReplyDeleteI've been watching your fitness work and to be honest, it's one of the things that inspired me to get on it myself. With the exercise, I began doing what my trainer calls, "eating with intention." Weight loss was not my ultimate goal since I wanted to also add lean muscle which weighs more than fat. I want to recommend that you download "Lose It!", an app for your phone that lets you log everything you do and eat. If you get started with that you'll find you make good progress toward your goal.
Hang in there buddy! (PS I'm gonna send you another Facebook friend request since I lost my original profile.
Hey Chris - thanks for reading and checking in. I'll look at that app, and watch for the friend request :)
